“Where flowers bloom, so does hope.” – Lady Bird Johnson
What a beautiful quote for a beautiful season! There’s nothing like the earth coming alive after winter, and, personally, it screams renewal all around for me every year. So, as April fades into May, let’s talk mental health. I know, I know– it feels cliche. But it’s important, it’s vital, and now is a great time to bring it up.
Countless number of statistics show how various aspects of being outside can be game changers for a healthy mind! One, wide-spread idea is sunlight. Soaking up Vitamin D after a long, cold winter cooped up inside boosts our serotonin levels, making us feel happier and more motivated! Don’t get me wrong, I do love to be cozy by the fire in December, but there is something freeing about sitting in the warm sun. Which brings us to the next point: renewal!
Last but certainly not least, warm weather and sunny days can encourage us to engage in exercise. Whether that’s stepping up our running goals, or just a simple daily walk, these beautiful days just lure us to physical activity. Which also, you guessed it, improves our mental health!
So, in the busyness of the spring season, take a second to sit in God’s creation. Don’t put your mental health on the back burner– allow this new season to restore rest and hope within you. Whether it’s the sounds of nature, the sunlight, or the exercise you’re stepping into, may it bring renewal. Let’s bloom with spring, guys!!
