Food, fireworks, and fun!
Happy Almost 4th of July! Our sweet nation is 247 years old this year. How do you spend your holiday? If you’re anything like me, you eat. A lot. The best holiday to use as an excuse to eat your heart out. Mmm another cookout. But obviously there is more to the 4th than just food (I know– hard to believe). And there is a ton you can do!
If you’re looking for a local plan, there’s a 4th of July program at Temple that never fails to bring a smile to your face. But there are many ways to celebrate all over the nation. Nashville puts on a firework like no other. I’ve been! Then, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the exact spot our founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence, there is a huge celebration. Events begin in mid-June leading all the way up to a parade. Here’s a funny one– at Mount Rushmore, South Dakota, there aren’t any fireworks! They celebrate with a re-enactment of the 4 presidents on display in the sculpture.
In the end, no matter how you spend your holiday, we can’t forget that we are celebrating our freedom and remembering those who fought for us. Happy 247th birthday, America!!
