Feliz Navidad!

Merry Christmas everybody! I hope you are all merry and bright. Did you decorate your Christmas tree? What about Christmas lights? Did you do something different entirely? Everyone does something a little different, just like Thanksgiving lunch! And what comes crazy to us may be the best part of the season for others.

Decorations are so fun! I love putting out lights and trees. Did you know that every Christmas in Sweden they put out a giant, lit-up, straw goat? Listen to this one– Brazil has the world record for the largest floating Christmas tree! I may take up one of these traditions next year. Christmas trees are so beautiful, and decorating them has always been a favorite of mine. But in Ukraine, they have ornaments I don’t think I’ll use– spiders!  Spider web ornaments in Ukraine are traditionally a symbol of good luck! Also, all around the world there are different names for Santa Claus. In Japan, he is known as Hoteiosho. But in France he answers to Pére Noël. Not to mention the Kris Kringle, Santa Claus, and Father Christmas we throw around here in the US. Here’s one last funny one for you– it’s a HUGE thing for people in Japan to eat KFC on Christmas Day! They don’t settle for ham or turkey, but instead pile by the hundreds to get fried chicken!

The Martin Presence Group is wishing you all a holly, jolly Christmas!
